Graeme Huguet was the project co-ordinator on this home with cabinetry design and space planning by Jeffrey D. Rebiffe and interior design by Linda Jones. The whole house makeover also captured three gold Georgie awards in British Columbia this year. Landscaping was honoured with the 2006 Award of Excellence from the B.C. Landscape and Nursery Association.

A contemporary West Coast theme is captured in a mix of wood and stone with western red cedar framing for the vaulted sunroom addition, edge grain white oak floors and cherrywood cabinets. The extensive glazing is Heat Mirror glass, which reduces heat and allows maximum light and views of the award-winning landscaping.
The homeowner’s desire for a tranquil West Coast contemporary retreat was realized with a Lindal Cedar Sunroom addition over a portion of what was the original sundeck. Heat Mirror glass used for the glazing allows extensive light into the once cramped kitchen and dining space, bringing the award winning landscape right into the home.
It is the kitchen, however, which truly sets the renovation apart.
All floors are edge-grained white oak hardwood, complimenting the cherrywood full-height cabinets, which have a mix of glass-front and solid doors. The countertops, including the wet island with raised entertainment bar, are Lapidus granite from Brazil.

The countertops are Lapidus granite from Brazil, including the two-level island with raised eating and entertainment area. The curved design reflects the winding streambeds in the front and back gardens. Note the crown moulding above on the cabinets and the built-in wine cooler and TV hutch. A combination of pot lights, suspended pendants and task lighting are used to effectively layer light throughout the space.
All appliances were replaced with high-end stainless steel models, including the addition of a wine cooler, built-in wall oven and microwave, as well as a five-burner gas cooktop with a pop-up venting system set into the countertop. A flat-screen TV was added in a recessed cabinet. The lighting is layered with a series of pot lights, suspended pendants and specific task lighting.
Local suppliers to this national award-winning project included Columbia Cabinets, Trail Appliances, Italstone Marble and Granite, Serenity Landscapes, West Coast Designed Windows and High Performance Glass. As well, decorative elements were supplied by Valley Furniture Gallery, ArtWorks Gallery and Burritt Bros. Carpets.
